What Is a Cast Screw?

A cast screw is a helical conveying component — also known as a cast auger, screw conveyor flight or cast auger screw — that rotates inside a trough or tube to move, mix, dose, lift or press materials. Compared with welded-flight fabrications, an integral casting has no weld seams to crack, higher wear resistance and smoother, better-balanced rotation at high speed.

We match the process to your part: the sand casting screw route for large-diameter augers at low tooling cost, or the investment cast screw route (silicon sol lost wax) for small, complex, near-net-shape components. Popular materials range from cast steel auger grades such as ASTM A148, 42CrMo and 4140 to SUS304 / SUS316 / CF8M stainless steel for corrosive media.

Leesh Holdings Steel Casting Services

Beyond a single part, Leesh Holdings operates as a full-process steel casting group — sand casting, silicon sol and water glass investment casting, precision forging and die casting — with finishing and inspection all under one roof, serving railway, automotive and truck, construction machinery, mining, forklift, agricultural machinery, marine, petroleum, pump and valve, power equipment and hardware industries.

  • Two investment casting routes: silicon sol (0.05–50 kg, CT4–CT6, Ra 3.2–6.3 μm) and water glass (0.10–100 kg, CT6–CT8, Ra 6.3–12.5 μm) — the process is matched to your tolerance and budget
  • In-house heat treatment, CNC machining, mirror and electrolytic polishing, drilling and tapping, zinc / chrome plating and powder coating for assembly-ready parts
  • Complete in-house inspection: spectrometer, tensile and low-temperature impact testing, X-ray, magnetic particle, ultrasonic flaw detection and CMM
  • OEM & ODM support for every cast screw and cast auger project, with export documentation and quotation response within 24 hours

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a sand casting screw and an investment cast screw?

Sand casting suits large-diameter screw parts (typically above 200 mm outer diameter) with lower tooling cost and CT8–CT10 tolerance. Investment casting (lost wax) produces near-net-shape flights with CT4–CT6 tolerance and Ra 3.2–6.3 μm surface finish — the better choice for small and medium precision augers. Our engineers recommend the most cost-effective route after reviewing your drawing.

Can you make a cast auger screw from my drawings or a worn sample?

Yes. Send 2D or 3D drawings — or ship us the worn part. We measure it, build the tooling and confirm critical dimensions with a first-article report before mass production.

What materials do you use for screw and auger castings?

Carbon steel (Q235, 45#, 1045), cast alloy steel (42CrMo, 4140, 8630), stainless steel (SUS304, SUS316, CF8M) plus heat-resistant and wear-resistant grades. Chemistry is verified with a spectrometer before every pour, and EN 10204 3.1 certificates are supplied with shipment.

What is your MOQ and lead time for a custom cast screw rotor?

No strict MOQ — one-piece replacements and small batches are welcome. Typical lead time is 25–40 days depending on process, machining and heat treatment. Send your drawing today and receive a quotation within 24 hours.
