| Grade | Heat Treatment |
|---|---|
| 1A, 1B, 1C | Heat to a minimum temperature of 1900°F (1040°C), hold for sufficient time to uniformly heat the casting to the specified temperature, quench in water, or otherwise rapidly cool. |
| 2A | Heat to a minimum temperature of 2050°F (1120°C), hold for sufficient time to uniformly heat the casting to the specified temperature, quench in water, or otherwise rapidly cool. |
| 3A | Heat to a minimum temperature of 1950°F (1070°C), hold for sufficient time to uniformly heat the casting to the specified temperature, quench in water, or otherwise rapidly cool. |
| 4A | Heat to a minimum temperature of 2050°F (1120°C), hold for sufficient time to uniformly heat the casting to the specified temperature, water quench, or furnace cool to a minimum of 1850°F (1010°C) and hold for at least 15 minutes, then water quench or otherwise rapidly cool in lieu of water quenching. |
