GJS-600-3 Casting & Sand Casting Process
Leesh Holdings is an experienced GJS-600-3 Casting manufacturer, supplying EN 1563 pearlitic ductile iron sand castings for gears, crankshafts, heavy machinery and high-strength structural components — custom drawings accepted, from prototype to volume production.
What Is GJS-600-3 Casting?
GJS-600-3 Casting is a pearlitic ductile iron grade defined in EN 1563, combining high tensile strength (≥ 600 MPa) with moderate ductility (≥ 3% elongation). It is the European counterpart to GGG60 (DIN 1693), QT600-3 (GB/T 1348) and ASTM A536 80-55-06 — chosen where wear resistance, rigidity and load-bearing capacity take priority over elongation.
High Strength
Minimum 600 MPa tensile strength with a pearlitic matrix — built for heavy static and dynamic loads.
Wear Resistance
Pearlitic structure provides good abrasion resistance for gears, slides and contact surfaces.
Sand Casting Advantage
Lower tooling cost vs. investment casting; handles parts up to 5 tons with complex cores.
Full Traceability
Heat-lot traceability, spectro analysis and mechanical test reports supplied with every batch.
Chemical Composition (Typical)
Typical ladle analysis for EN-GJS-600-3. EN 1563 specifies mechanical properties; composition is foundry-controlled to achieve the pearlitic matrix.
| Element | Typical Range (%) | Element | Typical Range (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon (C) | 3.50 – 3.90 | Magnesium (Mg) | 0.03 – 0.06 |
| Silicon (Si) | 2.00 – 2.80 | Phosphorus (P) | ≤ 0.05 |
| Manganese (Mn) | 0.20 – 0.60 | Sulfur (S) | ≤ 0.02 |
| Copper (Cu, optional) | 0 – 0.50 | Tin (Sn, optional) | 0 – 0.08 |
International equivalents: EN-GJS-600-3 ≡ GGG60 (DIN 1693) ≡ QT600-3 (GB/T 1348) ≡ 80-55-06 (ASTM A536) ≡ FCD 600 (JIS G5502).

GJS-600-3 vs Other Ductile Iron Grades
Choosing the right grade depends on your application priorities — strength, wear resistance, or ductility.
| EN 1563 Grade | Tensile (MPa) | Elongation | Typical Matrix | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EN-GJS-400-15 | ≥ 400 | ≥ 15% | Ferritic | Impact & machinability |
| EN-GJS-500-7 | ≥ 500 | ≥ 7% | Ferrite + Pearlite | Balanced strength & ductility |
| EN-GJS-600-3 | ≥ 600 | ≥ 3% | Pearlitic | High strength & wear resistance |
| EN-GJS-700-2 | ≥ 700 | ≥ 2% | Pearlitic (HT) | Maximum strength, gears & crankshafts |
